A member of St Andrew's Youth Club has beaten hundreds of entrants to WIN the Enterprise award, for the most entrepreneurial idea in the final of the national PhoneBrain competition. Ashley Nzeh age 17 from St Andrew's Youth Club entered an idea for an app that enabled you to check fuel prices and compare them in the different pertrol stations in your local area, either by using the GPRS on your phone or by typing in the postcode of where you are.

Ashley will travel to Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation, in London, on 28 February 2013 to battle it out with five other teams from across the UK for the overall PhoneBrain award. Among those grilling teams on their idea will be telecoms leaders from Vodafone, RIM (the makers of BlackBerry) and Wayra Europe. Emma Jones MBE, the entrepreneur behind StartUp Britain will talk about what it takes to turn an idea into a winning business as well as mentor some of the winners.

Ashley’s app idea won the the Enterprise award, for the most entrepreneurial idea. Young people from St Andrew’s Club will receive a support package of business mentoring from StartUp Britain.

The overall winner at the final in London will win a trip to BlackBerry HQ for up to thirty students to see the latest app and technical developments as well as £1,000 development money from PhoneBrain.

PhoneBrain helps young people understand the costs involved in mobile and smartphone use and is run in schools and youth clubs nationwide.
