    As a part of our Heritage Lottery Fund project we have been investigating our history which has been truly surprising. St Andrew’s own researchers, Gail Baitinger, Thomas Robinson and Jamie Crosbie, have been investigating 14 editions of The Chronicle, the Club’s newsletter, which has provided new insight into the daily activities of the Club from 150 years ago and unlocked a wealth of hidden history in the process.

    On Tuesday 12th July David Cameron hosted his last reception as Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street where he met members, volunteers, supporters and staff of St Andrew’s Club and their guests. The event provided an opportunity to highlight the valuable youth and community work done by the Club, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary.

    HRH The Duke of Edinburgh has been visiting the Boys & Girls Clubs, now known as London Youth clubs, for the last 69 years and as he said in the Evening Standard on 30th June 2016, "I understand the value in it. We need to educate people from the very start."

    It's been an exciting season for St Andrew's football, with some great highlights and enthusiasm shown by all teams. Most notably our senior team ran rings round MPs from all parties, winning 9-1 in a special 150th Anniversary match against the Parliamentary team.

    Jo Stanghon and Lesley Rider, sisters, talk with real fondness and enthusiasm about the Club that has been an important part of their families' lives for nearly 100 years. Their Uncle Alfred was born locally in 1908 and joined St Andrew’s in his teens. The family has been involved as members and volunteers ever since; including running the Junior Club, football teams, and other evening activities. They just hope it will continue that way for all their grandchildren and further generations.
