Our congratulations to our long-standing volunteer Leslie Phillips. He was thrilled to receive an award at the Westminster Care Awards ceremony at Cowdray Hall on Monday 19th March. He was awarded Highly Commended in the category of Befriender, Volunteer or Community Carer.
Leslie has been volunteering every Thursday at the Club for nearly 10 years. He buys the ingredients and cooks a wholesome meal each week for around 40 hungry members. Not to mention the Easter and Christmas treats he also buys for Club members.
“It’s a huge pleasure for me to run Leslie’s Kitchen at St Andrew’s Club. The young people there are always ravenous and it’s my way of giving back to this amazing charity which has been running this vital Club and its varied youth programmes for such a long time.”
